Geneva is a city in Ashtabula County, Ohio. The area was originally settled in 1805 by several settlers from Charlotte, NY. In 1806, settlers from Harpersfield, New York came to the area and established Harpersfield Township, which includes present-day townships of Geneva, Trumbull, and Hartgrove. Then in 1816, residents of Harpersfield withdrew from the township and decided to form their own township, Geneva Township. It was named after Geneva, NY. In 1866, the town became a village, and, then nearly 100 years later, in 1958, Geneva was incorporated as a city.

Today, the city covers an area of 4.08 square miles, all of it being land. A little over 6,000 people and 2,600 housing units within the city.
